Elon Musk calls for 1 billion AI!
Elon Musk aims to raise $1 billion for his artificial intelligence project. After previously advocating, along with others, for a “pause” in the development of this technology, the head of Tesla and founder of SpaceX confirms his active involvement in the ongoing battle that encompasses the entire American tech industry.
Elon Musk seeks to raise $1 billion (€925 million) for his artificial intelligence project, X.AI. This information emerged from a document filed on Tuesday, December 5, before the Security Exchange Commission (SEC), the regulatory body for American markets.
As the wealthiest person globally, with a net worth of $220 billion, Musk, the head of Tesla and founder of SpaceX, is gearing up to enter the AI race. He has already secured $135 million from four private investors, is seeking a minimum investment of $2 million, and has finalized a “binding agreement” for the remaining amount.
This move appears to be a response to OpenAI, the creator of chatGPT, which shifted under Microsoft’s umbrella. Musk was one of its co-founders in 2015 but departed in 2018, officially due to potential conflicts of interest – at that time, he was hiring AI specialists for his own empire. However, it also seems to be related to power struggles with OpenAI’s CEO, Sam Altman. Musk became one of the most outspoken critics regarding the potential dangers of AI.
